Wrinkles

What is a wrinkle?
With time, exposure to the sun and other elements, skin components break down. The skin loses structure and volume. Unwelcome lines and wrinkles appear. Healthcare professionals now can correct wrinkles and facial folds, reversing the signs of aging.

How wrinkles are corrected?
The appearance of wrinkles and facial folds can be smoothed by adding structure and volume underneath and bringing sunken skin back up to the surface. Generally, this is done by injecting materials into the skin, to achieve a temporary effect. When administered by a trained healthcare professional, you can be sure that the materials have been proven safe to use. One example is hyaluronic acid.

What is hyaluronic acid?
Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a natural complex sugar found in living cells, and one of the major components of the dermis connective tissue matrix, along with collagen and elastin. HA retains water like a sponge, absorbing more than 1000 times its weight. This helps to attract and maintain water, hydrating your skin and increasing its volume and density. Allergan, Inc., has found ways to produce, purify, and package HA to make it available for wrinkle correction.

Botox® Cosmetic Botox Seal

Botox® is an FDA-approved treatment for the temporary reduction of moderate to severe frown lines between the brows in patients 18-65 years of age. Botox® cosmetic is a purified protein. It is a non-surgical treatment that works by reducing the muscle contractions that cause the lines to form over time.

In about ten minutes, with a few tiny injections, you will see a noticeable improvement within two to fourteen days. There is no recovery or down time. Results last three to six months. After that, you are ready for a follow-up treatment.

Botox® cosmetic is the only treatment of its type approved by the FDA for the temporary improvement of moderate to severe frown lines. At Medical Laser Solutions, our healthcare professionals can administer Botox® treatment. For more information, visit www.botoxcosmetic.com.

JUVEDERM™

What is JUVEDERM™?
JUVEDERM™ injectable gel is a smooth gel filler your doctor eases under your skin to instantly smooth out those wrinkles or folds that look like parentheses along the side of your nose and mouth. Results aren't just instant, they're so smooth and natural, everyone will notice but no one will know. Your doctor or healthcare professional can tell you which JUVEDERM™ formulation is right for you: JUVEDERM™ Ultra injectable gel, optimally formulated for versatility in contouring and volumizing wrinkles and folds, or JUVEDERM™ Ultra Plus, a robust formulation for volumizing and correcting deeper wrinkles and folds. Look smooth and natural with JUVEDERM™ injectable gel.

What makes JUVEDERM different from other dermal fillers?
JUVEDERM™ injectable gel is produced through HYLACROSS™ technology creating a high degree of cross-linking and promoting duration for up to 6 months or longer.

HYLACROSS™ technology results in a smooth consistency gel, which is a primary factor in the long lasting, smooth, natural look and feel that is a hallmark of JUVEDERM™ wrinkle correction.

In the U.S., JUVEDERM™ injectable gel is indicated for injection into the medium to deep dermis for correction of moderate to severe facial wrinkle and folds (such as nasolabial folds) and is generally well tolerated. The most commonly reported side effects are temporary injection site redness, swelling, pain/tenderness, firmness, lumps/bumps, and bruising. Exposure of the treated area to excessive and sun and extreme cold weather should be minimized until any initial swelling and redness has resolved. If laser treatment, chemical peel, or any other procedure based on active dermal response is considered after treatment with JUVEDERM™ injectable gel, there is a possible risk of an inflammatory reaction at the treatment site. Everyone will notice, but no one will know. Visit Juvederm™ for more information.

Rosacea

What is rosacea?
Rosacea is a common facial skin disorder that affects an estimated 14 million Americans. It is a chronic but treatable condition that typically begins after the age of 30 as flushing or redness on the cheeks, nose, chin or forehead that may come and go. Over time, the redness tends to become more persistent and visible blood vessels tend to appear. Progression can lead to bumps and pimples, and, in more severe cases, the nose may grow swollen and bumpy from excess tissue.

How can we help your rosacea symptoms?

  • IPL Skin Rejuvenation-treatments control flushing and, in may cases, reduces the need for topical cortisone creams and antibiotics.
  • Laser – Laser therapy currently plays a vital role in the treatment of rosacea by diminishing redness more effectively than medications, eliminating the visible blood vessels as well as improving the texture of the skin
  • Facial treatments – The redness, inflammation, and itchiness from rosacea can be calmed by specific facial treatments such as the Environmental Control Treatment by Dermalogica.
  • Skin care products - Dermalogica has a line of home skin care products to use as part of a daily routine to minimize the effects of rosacea.
